Hello everyone! I’m Albert Mason, a seasoned veteran in the world of tobacco and a self-proclaimed aficionado of all things leafy and rich.
Over my career, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to work with some of the largest tobacco companies in the world. I started my journey with British American Tobacco, where I served as a Production Manager, overseeing the transformation of raw tobacco into some of the finest products in the market. Following that, I moved to the United States to work with Altria Group, where I was responsible for driving innovation and sustainability in our product lines.
I’ve always been fascinated by the intricacies and nuances of tobacco, from the cultivation to the final product. This fascination has driven me to explore tobacco production in various countries, making for an incredible journey of discovery. I’ve walked through fields of golden tobacco in Brazil, smelled the rich aromas of curing barns in the Dominican Republic, and listened to the stories of generations-old tobacco farmers in Cuba.
Along the way, I’ve been recognized for my efforts in the industry. I was honored to receive the “Tobacco Industry Innovator of the Year” award at the Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum in 2022 and also earned the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the Tobacco Plus Expo in 2024. These awards reflect my commitment to the industry and my continual drive to innovate and improve.
I’m currently based in the beautiful city of Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States, where I continue my work as an independent consultant for several upcoming tobacco brands while running my blog, ‘Mason’s Musings on Tobacco.’
Outside of my professional life, I’m a jazz enthusiast, and there’s nothing I love more than enjoying a fine cigar with some Coltrane or Davis in the background. I also enjoy hiking and bird-watching, often taking trips to the Smoky Mountains National Park to unwind.
